Romantic Mini-break?

If you’re planning a clandestine weekend away with your beau, bff or you’re treating yourself, we have the perfect spot. For the loved-up you and a special someone can steal away at  the seashore destination of the Strand Inn in Dunmore East.

The Strand Inn, Waterford
Of all the Inns in Ireland, this is my favourite… there, I said it. It’s neither the most design-focussed, nor luxurious, but what it lacks in high-octane glamour it absolutely makes up for in charm, hospitality and cuisine. The Strand Inn overlooks a small harbour, that can, on any given day, boast views of old sailing boats or folks fishing for plaice and mussels. The laid-back vibes at The Strand spell the kind of old Irish, family holiday charm, that has all too sadly disappeared in many places, in favour of superficial design. And the food is the work of a thoughtful chef: Duncannon mussels with a creamy black bean sauce; wild mushroom linguini or spicy seafood bouillabaisse. If that isn’t enough of a reason to win you over, the comfy bedrooms with sounds of the seashore lapping and lulling you into a deep sleep, certainly will.Prices start from €120 per night
