In 1963, Isabel Foyle came to Dunmore East to buy the Haven Hotel — and left as the owner of The Strand Inn instead, drawn in by its unbeatable spot on the sand.
Her son Michael took the helm a few years later, turning it into the heart of what was then a busy fishing port. Under his charismatic eye, The Strand Inn became the place locals and visitors alike wanted to be.
Six decades on, the family is still behind the bar, in the kitchen, and on the terrace. Edwina now leads the business alongside her children, Clifden and Louise, and a fourth generation is already growing up on this same stretch of sand.
